Do I need a finger scan to join?

The planned HeySalad membership includes non-biometric routes. Finger-vein recognition is an optional feature being explored alongside digital and physical loyalty cards. Our aim is to offer equivalent rewards across check-in methods; final terms are still to be confirmed.

Is recognition the same as payment?

No. Identifying a member and authorizing a payment are separate actions. A scanner match alone should not authorize an unspecified purchase. Membership today offers neither production biometric enrollment nor payment processing.

What needs to be explained before enrollment?

Before a production enrollment flow, members need clear information about the operator, purpose, data captured, service providers, retention, deletion and alternatives. The data flow and provider responsibilities still need to be confirmed. We are not claiming that templates never leave a device or that HeySalad never receives biometric data.

What should member choice look like?

Our design goal is a clear choice, an equivalent non-biometric route and a way to withdraw from recognition. The production process needs to explain what withdrawal deletes and whether any records must be retained separately. These are requirements to implement and verify, not capabilities demonstrated by this website.

Where can I learn more?

The UK Information Commissioner provides guidance on biometric recognition and lawful processing. That guidance informs our review, but it is not certification of HeySalad. Requirements also depend on the country and the actual technology.
